Name Badges for Your Team: A Simple Guide to Getting It Right
If you’re kitting out a team with name badges, it can feel like a small task that somehow comes with a lot of little decisions.
Occupation or no occupation? Logo or name only?Reusable or personalised for each person?
Occupation or no occupation? Logo or name only?Reusable or personalised for each person?
We make name badges for all sorts of businesses on the Sunshine Coast and beyond, so we thought we’d put together everything we usually walk customers through, in one place.
Why bother with proper name badges
A good name badge does more than look tidy. For your customers or patients, it puts a name to a face and makes the first interaction feel a little warmer. For your team, it’s a small piece of belonging - a sign they’re part of something. And for you, it’s an easy, affordable way to make your business feel polished and consistent, without a big spend.
Occupation or no occupation?
This is usually the first thing to decide, and it comes down to how your team is structured.
• With occupation works well if your team has a mix of roles — think receptionist, therapist, coordinator — and you want it clear at a glance who does what.
• Without occupation suits teams where the role is already obvious from context, or where you’d rather keep things simple and just have a name (and maybe your logo).
Either way, we can keep the wording, font and colours consistent across everyone’s badge, so the whole team looks cohesive.
Choosing a style
We make badges in a range of finishes, so there’s room to match your brand rather than settle for something generic:
• Script or bold font badges for a softer or stronger visual feel
• UV printed logo badges if you want your actual logo on every badge, not just text
• Offset badges for a slightly different, layered look
• Specialty badges for particular industries, like our medical icon, stethoscope clip and Auslan-friendly designs
• Awareness ribbon badges if your workplace supports a cause you’d like reflected in your uniform
If your team wears name badges every day, our UV printed reusable badges are worth a look too - a name and title can be reprinted without needing a brand new badge each time someone changes roles.
Choosing a fastener
It’s easy to overlook, but the fastener on the back of a badge makes a real difference to how comfortable it is to wear every day. We offer a few options:
• Pin backs are the classic choice — simple, secure, and a good fit for uniforms where a small pinhole isn’t an issue.
• Metal magnetic backs hold the badge firmly with no pinholes in clothing, which is handy for delicate or uniform fabrics.
• Plastic magnetic backs work the same way but are nickel-free, which makes them a better option for anyone with a skin sensitivity or nickel allergy.
If you’re not sure which suits your team, it’s worth asking each person directly — some people will have a strong preference, especially around comfort or skin sensitivity, and it’s a small thing to get right for them.
Ordering for a team, not just one person
The main thing that trips people up with bulk orders is getting everyone’s details together in one go. Before you order, it helps to have:
• Names (and how each person wants theirs spelled or shortened)
• Occupation or title wording, if you’re including it
• Your logo file, if you’d like it UV printed onto the badges. Ideally in a vector format (SVG, EPS, adobe illustrator)
• Any brand colours or fonts you’d like matched
Send that through in an email or spreadsheet and we can quote, invoice and produce the whole team’s badges together, so everything comes out matching.
A note on turnaround
Because badges are made to order, they do take some lead time — at the moment we’re running 10–15 business days, with rush options available if you’re up against a deadline (a new staff member starting, an event, or a uniform refresh). If timing matters for your order, just let us know upfront and we’ll do what we can to help.
Bigger orders and ongoing supply
If you’re a business that needs badges regularly - new starters, seasonal staff, or a growing team - we also offer wholesale pricing with low minimum order quantities. It’s worth a chat if you think you’ll be ordering more than once.
Local pickup or delivery
We’re based in Glenview on the Sunshine Coast, with local pickup also available in Bli Bli, or we can ship your order Australia-wide.
